Quinton Xaivier, or Q, is a Detroit-based film writer- director with a background in comics and music. Drawing from the contrast of his experiences and the media he grew up with, Q aims to create character-driven stories that are both universal and filled with nuance from the Black American perspective. Thematically, Q explores love, loss, familial intricacies, and coming of age through mixed genre narratives.
In 2022, Q was awarded Best Director by NATAS's Michigan chapter for his romantic short Runaway Horses. The years to follow would see Q assume vital roles as the director of Litepanels' Inspired By: David Fincher and chief lighting technician on feature length films Corruption and Silent Scream, and as assistant editor on various commercial and documentary projects. Currently, he is completing work on his BFA at Wayne State University while preparing for his feature length directorial debut, Last Call for Okinawa.
